  There’s no such thing as a “Free” credit score.

  You watch the guy singing on the roller coaster about how he didn’t check his credit and decided you’d better do so. You goggle “Free Credit” and:

  “You’ll get dozens of sites that say they are free,…but ultimately they are going to enroll you in their service. They’re going to ask you for your credit card number and they’re going to ding you for at least $10 a month for that so-called free credit report…
  Bottom line: Any site that asks for your credit card number to get your free credit report is not the real site.
  To get your once-a-year free credit report, something that is now required by law, there’s only one site to go to:.
  Once you get transferred to the credit bureau’s site, there’s a good chance they’ll try to sell you one of their services. You do not have to buy any of them. Look for the link to the free credit report.

  Congress gave you the right to get your credit report for free once a year from each of the big three credit reporting agencies. You do not get your credit score for free. You will still have to buy that if you want it.”

  In short, there’s a free way to get a report (what’s in your records) If you find errors you can dispute them. However, to get your score, what all the ads make a big deal of, you’ll have to join and pay for it.
